Eclipses: the Winds of Change
Eclipses are always harbingers of change. They are powerful tools the Universe uses to focus our attention on an area of our life that needs change. Sometimes that change comes from sudden or shocking news that leads to life-changing events.
Solar and Lunar eclipses always come in pairs, in opposite signs, about two weeks apart. Annually, there are typically 2 pairs of – and 4 total – eclipses, and a roughly 6 month interval between both pairs. This pattern continues for a 1 ½-to-2-year period in opposing signs, i.e. Aries and Libra. Because they occur in two opposing signs and because these signs represent specific houses, there will be recurring themes that emerge in the areas of your life these houses represent throughout this entire eclipse cycle.
During a Solar Eclipse, the Moon stands between the Sun and the Earth, blocking sunlight from lighting the Earth. Solar Eclipses always occur during a New Moon. New Moons are a time for new beginnings.
During a Lunar Eclipse, the Earth stands between the Sun and the Moon, blocking sunlight from lighting the Moon. Lunar Eclipses always occur during a Full Moon. Full Moons are a time of culminations.
Eclipses are much more powerful than a regular New Moon or Full Moon. The events that occur during eclipses have more of an impact on a person’s life, or indeed, on the world. That is because eclipses activate the the North and South Nodes of the Moon (Rahu and Ketu in Vedic Astrology, respectively), which illuminate our soul’s purpose. Eclipses bring us closer to our destiny.
These events can be life-changing. For example: we may receive news of an engagement, a pregnancy, a layoff, a divorce, and even the exposure of a secret. We can usually look back at these moments as major turning points in our lives.
Eclipses can bring events that you thought were far off in the future to the here and now. Though the timing may be unexpected, the changes themselves are often a long time coming. For example, you may have been thinking of moving at some point in the future, but then you suddenly land a job that requires relocation and are forced to move earlier than expected.
Not only will there be change, it can all happen pretty quickly during eclipses. The Universe wants you to move forward, not stay stagnant, and will push you forward if it needs to.
Eclipses can open a door you never expected to open. They can also close a door you never expected to close. If there is an ending, trust that it was part of your soul’s journey and that a new chapter will unfold.
But don’t fear! Eclipses may bring change, but that change is intimately connected to your soul’s purpose. They help us to let go of the past and embrace the path forward with more clarity than we had before. Remember, where one door closes, another opens.
